Yesterday was our little one’s first birthday. (Too busy to post yesterday!) The past year has gone by way too fast! She has changed our lives for the better. We had a great day with family. She enjoyed being outside but getting all of the attention wasn’t too great. Thank you to everyone that made her day extra special! Happy birthday!
No-sew tutu. Easy as pie! For our little one’s birthday, I want to have something special for her to wear. I don’t want the scratchy, uncomfortable, “normal” tutu, and I came across this idea on Pinterest.
First things first: Measure her waist. 19”. Also, measure from her waist to her knee or however long you want the tutu. I doubled this last measurement and added one inch. 19”. I wanted each strip to be at least 2” wide. So, each strip was 19” long x 2” wide. With her waist measurement, I used 37 strips, 2 strips per 1”. With all of these measurements, I found that one-third of a yard would be more than enough. I also picked out a spool of grosgrain ribbon, 2” wide. I cut a length of at least 55”. This left enough for a large, pretty bow.
I picked six fabrics and cut them into the strips. Using two chairs, I tied the ribbon so that I could easily use a double square knot to tie each strip. It took just about an hour or so to make the tutu from start to finish. I think it took longer to pick out the fabric than it actually took to make it!!!
The leftover fabric will be used to make a cute headband and a personalized onesie.
I can’t wait until her birthday to see the full ensemble! She will surely be the cutest kid on the farm!
Where has the time gone?! Eleven months old today! Child-proofing is getting in full swing. How early can you start time-out? Can’t decide who will need it more, her or the cat! Our happy baby is growing by leaps and bounds. Can’t wait for next month!!!
Ten months! Wow, where has the time gone?! We have a silly, cat loving, smart little girl. She is rambunctious and loving all in one. She loves to have a great time and her giggle is infectious. If there is a cat around, expect to find her giving out “love pats”. Her alphabet puzzle provides lasting entertainment—mainly the letter “t”.
